2 weeks to go!
Leeds/Dortmund50 starts on 30th Sept with the launch at 1.30pm of The Downhearted Drayman, an illustrated book by children at Beechwood Primary School with storyteller and writer Matthew Bellwood. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-downhearted-drayman-leadsdortmund-50-tickets-71885614809
After that, it’s two weeks of readings, discussions, and concerts celebrating the 50 year ‘sisterhood’ (as Germans call it) between Leeds and Dortmund.
One highlight has to be the event on the afternoon of Sat 5th Oct at Chapel FM, Jazz for Germany, attended by visiting officials from Dortmund, with music from the fabulous Chapel FM Jazz Collective, poetry, and a lot else. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/jazz-for-germany-leedsdortmund-50-tickets-71946777749
Do come along to the LIve events. Support this local international festival (thanks Leeds 2023!) and the enduring cultural and historical links between the UK and Germany.
Also: I’ve been compiling a track list of German music to play during the festival, along with contributions from iconic Leeds bands. If you have any German tracks to suggest, get in touch!
